Math as a 9th Grader
Before I came to High Tech High I did not like how teachers teach math. I would think that it is difficult because I dod not understand it. In my old school my teacher would teach us how to solve something, then she would give us paperwork so we can solve it. It was hard to work with it because it was not explained well. In this school students come up and solve it their own way to show their way of thinking. I like math but I don't like when they make it too complicated when they teach it. In this class the students usually lead the conversation by showing their way of solving it and by answering questions. It makes it easy to understand since I am a student too.

Strength and Stretches |
How this helps us with the outside world is for example the shark tank project, it's like owning a real business. You need to know the profit, revenue, and what the customers like. This made us prepare for what math can be used and how truly important it is. In math class it's mostly about working in teams and asking each other questions having the knowledge of what your partners think.

Some of my strength is analyzing the problem or finding the pattern because before I just wanted to get the question over with but now if I understand perfectly what Im doing I will e able to explain it better. One of my stretches is going up to the board or explaining or solving a problem and asking a question or answering a question. I have social anxiety so through the first year I didn't talk tot he class, only my table but I have improved and I have gone up to the board but I do have to improve on it

Shark Tank
The Shark Tank project is a project when the class gets split up in 3 groups depending on what business they voted the work in that one and they have to work together to run their business. The business that I was in was Nom Nom Pop's. Nom Nom Pops is a small business selling a multitude of cake pops in an assortment of flavors including Chocolate, Vanilla, and Red Velvet. We take a spin on your normal cakes.
Portfolio
In math class, for every unit we do a write up of what we learned and we use visual evidence to show the progress.
