Problem Statement
Process
|
One of the main process that we had to do was break up the bean looking shape into shapes that we would be able to calculate the area and then put it together later on. How I started was with cone shapes or triangles. Breaking up the shapes was important because later on we could be able to calculate the whole circle using shapes that we were able to calculate and then put them together. With the final product there was two cones, two triangles, a square and 3/4 of a circle. Those shapes we were able to calculate later on.

Solution
When we put it together we had to put it in a certain way;
Area of 3/4 of the circle+(area of the triangle+area of the cone)*2-1/2 area of the barn For the area of the three quarters circle we had to calculate the total area and multiply it by .75 because we are only trying to look for the area of the 3/4 of the circle For the area of the triangle we were only giver the base so we have to solve for the height using the a^2+b^2=c^2 and with that we will be able to find the height. Once we are finished finding the height, we plug it in with the formula with the area. To find the cone shape we have to find the angles first. We are given 45 by dividing the right angle by 2 and then we use sin o/h and then we add them together and subtract it by 180 to find the final angle. Once we are finished with that we can solve for the cone which is the angle which is 49.7 and then solve 49.7/360*3.24r^2. Instead of the radius being 100, its 90 because that is where the circle is sized as. Once we are finished with that we put it all together: 23,550+(317.1+3511.3)2-50=31156.8 |

Evaluation/Reflection
What I think the most challenging part of this activity was finding the angle because I still need some practice in it. Something that pushed my thinking was the part when we had to break up the shape into shapes that we are able to solve because it gave me the skill to think outside of the box in a way. Working with a group i worked better because I was able to get feedback from my peers and we were able to help each other. If I was to grade myself I think I would get an A because I like learning about this and expanding my knowledge.
